The Grade II* listed Bennerley Viaduct, affectionately known as the ‘Iron Giant’, spans the Erewash Valley as a landmark piece of Victorian heritage. N+M were proud to be engaged from project inception to deliver civil and structural engineering for a new Corten-clad visitor centre and education facility, along with associated landscaping and fully accessible ramped access to the viaduct. Our team tackled complex ground conditions and significant land drainage influences to design robust foundations and integrated sustainable drainage (SuDS) systems in a former colliery setting.
